Your Visit


The time will have come on June 5, 2019 and the Haus der Bayerischen Geschichte’s museum will open its doors in Regensburg. The new building is located right on the Danube. Its main elements are the permanent exhibition “How Bavaria Became a Free State and What Makes It So Distinctive” on over 2,500 square meters, a 360-degree multi-projection show in the foyer, a shop with a treasure trove of Bavarian products, and a Bavarian tavern serving culinary treats from every region of Bavaria.

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Mondays

The museum is open on holiday Mondays. Closed on December 24, 25 and 31, January 1, and Good Friday.

ATTENTION: The museum is closed on September 26, 2019 for the official opening of the Bavarian State Exhibition “One Hundred Treasures from One Thousand Years”.

Prices are effective until September 25, 2019 and again as of March 10, 2020.

Discounted admission (e.g. seniors, groups of 15 or more) € 4
Children and teenagers 18 and younger, school students with their class and college students 30 or younger: Free admission

Admission from September 27, 2019 to March 8, 2020

Along with the permanent exhibition, the 2019-20 Bavarian State Exhibition “One Hundred Treasures from One Thousand Years” will be on display at the museum from September 27, 2019 to March 8, 2020. Only combined tickets for both exhibitions will be available during this time. Tickets can be used to visit the permanent exhibition once until December 31, 2020.

Children and teenagers 18 and younger, school students with their class and college students 30 or younger: Free admission

What is more: Admission to the 25-minute 360-degree panorama film “The Backstory” with actor and television host Christoph Süss in the museum foyer is generally free!

Guided Tours

Explore the multifaceted topics of the permanent exhibition with our wide range of guided tours. We will also be offering a combined guided tour through the state and permanent exhibitions during the Bavarian State Exhibition “One Hundred Treasures from One Thousand Years” from September 27, 2019 to March 8, 2020.

School Groups

The museum is a great place for school groups to learn, too. We offer a variety of guided tours and programs for every kind of school from elementary to high school. Younger students recreate the colossal statue of “Bavaria” and test Karl Valentin’s rocket ship, while older students explore “Democracy and Civic Participation” in-depth in the interactive State Parliament.

Discovery Trail

The discovery trail and media guide make a visit to the museum an exciting family event. Children and young people become active themselves at many stations and call up additional information on the history of the Free State. Simply borrow the media guide at the admissions desk and get started!

Accessibility

The museum is wheelchair accessible. The media guide includes content in German sign language and basic German. Hearing loops are installed for deaf and hard of hearing visitors. Various offerings are available for visually impaired and blind visitors. Handicap parking spaces are located on the south side of the museum.
